Big Girl Talk was founded by Nilda whom after researching and chatting with a group of her friends realized there was not a strong presence online or in books representing the Single Childless 40+ woman. There was nothing but dating services for Single 40+ women. Not really a complete shock since this group gets overlooked regularly in our culture. As a result Nilda and friends decided to start their own on/off line sorority and web-blog. This they did in an attempt to reach other women whom met this prototype and give them a voice. The faces of the Big Girl Talk woman may be Latina, African American, Caucasian, Asian etc. the matter is we connect through our experiences.

Our experiences and pearls of wisdom are worth a platform to be respected and our opinions esteemed. No, our lives have not taken on the traditional roles of marriage and children, never-the-less; we have highly contributed to society. We have chosen the road less traveled, by remaining single not necessarily indefinitely but certainly up until this point. We have made the choice not to have children outside of a stable relationship, at the expense of being neither mother’s, nor wives and at midlife we are still single and childless. Through this sisterhood we look to have our place and our voice in society.

This site is not a dating site, nor is it a male bashing site. It is not a site where we are lashing out anger at society for attempting to identify and judge us. This is a place where we will come together to share our thoughts, aspirations, ideas, and disclose our opinions to a culture that does not see US. Here issues will be discussed that you may identify with. Things that possibly your married friends and family cannot understand. This is a sorority, a sisterhood, of women whom share many of the same ideals. This is a safe haven where we can release our feelings and speak from the heart.

Below you will find several founding members of the group whom you will be sharing with you through blogging, poems, organized gatherings and retreats. These are some of the many faces of Single Childless 40+ women.
